Anne Roe famously said ‘Nothing in science has any value to society if it is not communicated.’ In other words, making discoveries is just the start. I’m here to help you with all the rest.
You bring the ideas, we make sure they shine. You may need a ghostwriter to finally get those ideas for a perspective piece out of your head and onto the paper. Or a fresh pair of eyes bringing structure and clarity to the grant proposal pieced together by five different collaborators.
Perhaps you already have fantastic content but now want to present it in an equally fantastic report, brochure, website, or press release, reaching the target audience and triggering the right effect.
We discuss what you need and what the deliverable should be.
We get going and craft and/or edit your communication.
Reach your audience with the right message and impression.
“Liesbeth is able to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines, handling ad hoc tasks with focus and precision. Perfect if you’re looking for someone who can think critically and engage deeply with the scientific substance of the work.”

“We needed a user friendly, clean website for our team and project. We valued the fast turn-around time and very fast response in case of questions afterwards, as well as the quality of services delivered. And Liesbeth is a very enthused person, always very nice to work with!”

Do you need someone on standby who can take action when the need arises? Someone familiar with your work, so you don’t have to start from scratch each time? Who proactively plans new content and formats aligned with your goals and needs?
We'll figure out your key messages and main goals, and what you need to make them happen.
We craft a tailored strategy and plan encompassing content creation, social media management, website updates, etc.
We provide continuous support through the development of new content, and are only one phone call or email away if something pops up.
“As scientists we need to engage with our stakeholders, attract talented students and researchers, share our results with the public… Liesbeth helps us do all of this in a professional and timely manner.“

I can help you with scientific communication, including editing and proofreading papers and grant proposals written by you or the members of your team. With the right input, I can ghostwrite your scientific perspective or opinion piece. Rework your slides? Format your scientific poster? Not a problem. I can help you update, write and perfect your evaluation reports, your biography or academic resume, making sure you shine as brightly on paper as you do in real life.
In terms of outreach, I draft press releases, lay-man summaries and can prepare and/or produce content for a variety of projects, from a topical brochure to a scripted video, podcast or a full-blown book. I also have extensive expertise in navigating controversial topics, including animal research and genetic modification.
A big part of what I do is digital communication: keeping your lab’s website, social media channels and/or newsletter filled with exciting and attractive content.

I know my way around Photoshop and InDesign. For social media visuals, I often use Canva. I have a large collection of stock material that I can put to use to create all kinds of images that fit your institutional brand guidelines.
If necessary, we enlist a professional photographer, illustrator, or videographer to create the right visuals for you. I know just the right people who can make this happen. The important thing is: I’ll find a way to get it done, minimizing any extra demands on your time.
While I am not a programmer, I build and design (and provide content for) websites using platforms like WordPress, Wix, SquareSpace, and others. Contact me for references or examples.
If you need a website developed from scratch, I can help coordinate the process with a trusted partner.
I studied bio-engineering at KU Leuven, Belgium. After graduating, I moved to London for an MSc in Clinical Neuroscience at UCL. I returned to my home country for my PhD, which I obtained working in the lab of Bart De Strooper at VIB and KU Leuven. Though this group is primarily focused on Alzheimer’s disease, I studied the activity of PINK1, a kinase linked to Parkinson’s disease.
After my PhD, I worked as a postdoc at the Dementia Collaborative Research Center at UNSW Sydney. With this move across the globe, I also moved from molecular experiments to working with data from large cohort studies, assessing cognitive decline and its accompanying symptoms.
Yes, I work from the Beakon office located in Hasselt. I am only one phone call or email away.
Should there be an important event or a specific reason to meet face to face, I am happy to travel to you. For labs and organizations in Flanders, the full-service package includes a quarterly face-to-face meeting; the group package includes on-site presence each month, or as needed.
We know your schedule is packed. In everything we do, we try to avoid taking up more time from you than needed. Thanks to our strong scientific background, we can start from your paper proofs or grant proposals to craft a story.
If needed, we book a call or plan an interview, but these are always short and to the point. No hours-long kick-off meetings or planning get-togethers. No unnecessary check-ins or superfluous follow-up touch-bases.
Call or email with what you need, and we will do the same.
Scientists at NERF in Leuven study neuronal circuits and develop new technologies to link brain activity to brain function.
Check NERF’s website and social media for accessible summaries of recent activities and achievements, increasing the visibility of the research center among peers, prospective students, potential collaborators, funders and the public.
